shrine to my beloved precious son

my beautiful son was born sometime in august of 2023. we met in december of that year, after my previous bearded dragon, martin, passed away at 9 years old. i had martin since i was 15- he came to college with me- so it was a tough loss. i knew i wanted another lizard, and i went to a nearby pet store with the intention of picking up supplies when i saw tiny baby pogi.

obviously, he came home with me. this is how small he was as a 4-month-old:

at home!

in case anyone gives a fuck, he's a red leatherback morph. the store i bought him from specialized in exotics + had their own in-house breeding program for beardies, so i trusted them. he's alert, a good eater, and seems to be pretty smart for a bearded dragon, so i guess they're doing a good job.

HOLY SHIT NEW HOUSE

after a couple months i got him a 4x2x2 tank from dubiaroaches.com. it took me 3 days to assemble his new tank and build him some rocks for the cage out of foam and grout. the concrete is supposed to help keep their nails filed, but he still tears up my arms like tissue paper. once i put him in there, he spent the entire day climbing as high as possible and then jumping into the walls at full speed over and over again, which was awesome. i am so proud of him.

i attempted to plant things in his substrate a couple of times, but since he is an asshole he's eaten almost every plant i've given him. when i gave him a spider plant, he literally dug it up and left nothing but the roots. he is especially brutal with aloe plants and likes to drag them around the tank before he puts them out of their misery.

you can actually see the hate in his eyes

ok that's it. thanks for looking at him. bye
